NW Women's Journal
editor Michele McKeag Larsen has found a printer that's not so prudish about the naked female form as her previous printer, Journal Graphics.
“We've had an overwhelming positive response from readers and even a few advertisers,” says Larsen. “Several people actually took it upon themselves to help find a printer.”
Larsen says that the day after WWire posted a story
about Journal Graphics refusing to print a page showing a naked profile of a stripper/writer Viva Las Vegas, a sales representative named Georgi Komraus from Times Litho
of Forest Grove offered to pick up the “controversial” issue.
“Someone actually phoned me about the Willamette Week
article, so I hopped in my car and drove right over,” says Komraus. “We were happy to print it for her.”
Larsen says she has formally canceled her business with Journal Graphics and will have to pay an additional 25 percent more per printing run with Times Litho.
Nevertheless, she says her new printer has been very accommodating and as of this writing the issue is on the presses.
“The issue, with the original photo, will hit the streets next week,” she explains.
