Sux to be the Jax

Times are tough for the Portland Lumberjax. After winning the Western Division of the National Lacrosse League last year and winning their first two games this year, they've lost eight in a row to plummet to the bottom of the division. The latest beatings were 9-8 in overtime at Edmonton Friday night and 13-7 at Colorado Saturday.

The good news is that high-level indoor lacrosse is coming to the Rose Garden soon: the NLL's All-Star Game will be played there on Saturday, March 10.

The bad news is that Portland's lone starter on the West team, defenseman Brodie Merrill, pulled his hamstring over the weekend. The Jax said Monday that makes Merrill a scratch for the West all-stars. Jax defenseman Richard Morgan will replace him as a reserve.
