Breaking Swells

From Outdoors correspondent Bryan Van Norden:

WW just received word that the "contest status" for Oregon's only professional surfing competition was recently changed to yellow.

Don't freak!

Unlike the similarly colored Homeland Security Threat level, this is a good thing. It means because of a large swell forecasted off the Oregon Coast this weekend, the 2nd annual Nelscott Reef Tow In Classic is a go for this Friday, Dec. 8. OK, it's bad news for fishermen, but great waves for surfers. So if anyone is interested in going down to Lincoln City to witness some serious boarding (not to mention some George Costanza shrinkage) for free should click here for the latest weather update. Oh, and remember to bring binoculars, as the reef is a half-mile offshore.
