It's that time of year again! The Radio Cab Foundation will begin its distribution of turkeys and potatoes to over 1,000 families in the Portland area on Dec. 16.
Portlanders are encouraged to write letters to the foundation if they know about a family that won't have a Christmas, says David Yandell, a Radio Cab driver who began the foundation.
"It's a surprise to the family that gets the turkey," Yandell said. "They know that somebody thought about them, but they don't know who."
Letters can be sent to the Radio Cab building at 1613 NW Kearney St., Portland OR 97209.
In addition, Yandell will give bread to anyone who brings an unemployment stub to the Radio Cab building at 11 a.m. on Dec. 16 and 17. He encourages anyone wishing to help to donate money to the foundation, or to bring turkeys to the Radio Cab building.
