Cochon 555, the crazy pig-feed that
made its Portland debut last year (we were there), is teaming up with Portland chocolatier
David Briggs to give away free tickets when the event returns to Portland this month. Buy a
Xocolatl de David Chicharrón bar at Cacao, The Meadow, Cheese Bar, Cork Wine Shop or Meat Cheese Bread starting tomorrow afternoon and you might find a Wonka-inspired golden ticket to the May 16 hogstravaganza inside the wrapper.
And that's a hell of a find. Here's how it goes: five chefs (Gabe Rucker, Naomi Pomeroy, Andy Ricker, Cathy Whims and Jason Barwikowski) and five wineries team up to serve five pigs in strange and sometimes disgusting ways—last year Tommy Habetz made some sort of pork milkshake thing—over the course of a 2.5-hour buffet. It's the most ridiculous food event I've ever attended. It was awesome, in the literal sense of the word.
If you don't find a chicharrón-scented ticket,
you can still buy one—for a jaw-dropping $125.
Cochon 555: 4-8 pm Sunday, May 16 at the Governor Hotel, 614 SW 11th Ave., cochon555.com.
