A Very Generous Grant High Graduate

Ndamukong Suh

When Grant High School's Ndamukong Suh spurned Oregon State University and the University of Oregon to play football at the University of Nebraska, there was much gnashing of teeth by local sports fans about a great player who got away.

Suh's standout senior season last year heightened the loss, as he's now one of the top prospects heading into this week's NFL draft.

And now comes one more reason to rue Suh's departure — he's promising to be one hell of a philanthropist to Nebraska. He's going to donate $2.6 million to his alma mater (with a nice shoutout to Grant grads who want to attend Nebraska), according to this piece in the Lincoln Journal Star (with a hat tip to Deadspin).

Of course, this bit of history involving Oregon State and a similar commitment long ago from alum hoopster Gary Payton might give Nebraska some pause before they go spending Suh's pledge.
