What had been in little doubt in this injury-riddled season for Portland is now in no doubt:
Brandon Roy's partial meniscus tear in his
right knee will mean he's going to miss the
Trail Blazers' first round series against Phoenix.
The Blazers
announced this afternoon that Roy will undergo surgery on Friday, but refused to rule out the possibility that he could return if Portland beats Phoenix to advance to the second round:
“This was not an easy decision to make,” Roy said in a news release. “But, if I'm going to be out there, I want to be contributing. If we're fortunate enough to advance in the playoffs, having the surgery now gives me the best opportunity to help our team.”
In happier times ...
