After gaining permission from Multnomah County Circuit Court Presiding Judge
Jean Maurer, the District Attorney's office today released the grand jury transcripts on the March 22
fatal shooting of
Jackie Collins.
A grand jury last week
declined to indict Officer
Jason Walters in the shooting.
The transcripts are now available on the DA's
website.
It's the second time that city officials and the DA's office have requested grand jury transcripts be released in a police fatal shooting. In February, a judge ordered the release of transcripts in the
shooting of Aaron Campbell.
Walters — who shot Collins when police say he emerged from a bathroom armed with a
razor knife — has officially been returned to duty at Central Precinct, says Sgt.
Scott Westerman, head of the police union.
