Former state Sen.
Margaret Carter has dropped
may be dropping out of the race for Multnomah County chair one day after she
entered the contest.
The, Reports of her withdrawal from the race emerged earlier today at
OregonPolitico.Com and
Blue Oregon.
We've got a call in to Carter, a Portland Democrat who left the Legislature last year for a job at the state Department of Human Services. But if she's taking a page from Steve Novick's notebook of
short-lived runs for county chair and getting out of the race, that means a pretty clear path to the chairman's job for candidate Jeff Cogen, a Multnomah County commissioner.
UPDATED: She's
out, saying she wants to continue her work at the state.
