Does
Jon Ragel ever stop working? The
Boy Eats Drum Machine frontman/DJ/everything released the excellent
Hoop + Wire in February, and now he's back just seven months later with another new one, the all-instrumental
20 Beats—and he wants you to hear it RIGHT NOW with an
exclusive download code giveaway.
It's pretty simple: all you have to do is do is
click on this link and enter one of these download codes to get access to the full record. As Ragel says, "you just go there, plunk that, and get that. It's like the chorus to a kinky
Roots song!"
First come, first served. Here are the codes:

20 Beats is Boy Eats Drum Machine's new digital-only release of 20 instrumentals, each with it's own album cover. Starting with a break by a local Portland drummer (or vegan beat boxer) from Bridgetown Breaks volumes 1 and 2, Jon Ragel hammered each track into form using turntable, synthesizer, guitar, and tenor saxophone. The album features the percussion skills of Danny Seim, Kevin O'Connor, Charles Neal, Drew Shoals, Paul Alcott, Fogatron, Amanda Spring, Josh Skins, Sam Schauer, and Kevin Robinson.
For people who can't cop the full album, here's a preview of "Josh Skins," named after the drummer who dropped the sick break. Also, please note that track 15, "7 to the Right," is an ode to Brandon Roy.
