R. Kelly, "I'm a Flirt (Copy Remix)," The Pied Piper of Electro (Audio Dregs)
It takes a special person to remix a raunchy R. Kelly song that's already been remixed by the Pied Piper himself. But Copy's take on "I'm a Flirt"—a song the King of R&B (sorry, The-Dream, but you're not quite ready to steal the crown) originally wrote for Bow Wow back in 2007—somehow manages to one-up the both original versions by taking it from the champagne room to the dancefloor.
It's not like there's much wrong with the original version of "I'm a Flirt"—a perfect slice of bubblegum sex bounce—other than the fact that it can't hold it's own on a NES soundtrack. Well, scratch that: Copy's "I'm a Flirt" remix takes the original back to the '80s, ditching the slow-motion build of his killer new record Hard Dream for an 8-bit dream land where strippers rub tits, err, elbows with video game nerds and Kelly's boisterous claims ("While you buyin her drinks in the club/Actin like you in love/ Stuntin like you all thug/ We was switchin numbers") are sped up to get asses to stay in the club.
If there's one thing that Hard Dream misses, it's that classic Copy party starter. But like R. Kelly says, sometimes shawty just wanna flirt. The Pied Piper of Electro is Copy at his most filthy, and I'm glad that side still exists.
