Photo Review: Industrial Beach Show, Saturday, July 17th 2010

On Saturday, in between sets a the Bastille Day festival at Pix, I motored down to Swan Island to catch a little generator-powered action on the industrial beach off Interstate and North Going. Orca Team—whose '50s and '60s-inspired melodies perfectly matched with the the beach setting—was the main attraction for the impromptu show on the Willamette river. The day also featured a screechy, punky performance by new quartet Hot Face, featuring the members of ASSS. While plastic beachballs were noticeably absent, a pair did turn up to capitalize on the event and sell ice cream from a cooler. Far out dude!
