The mercury is a-risin', the sun has been set to "shine" and it finally feels like summer has really begun. Here in the WW
offices, we're still chained to our typewriters, but with such a beautiful day beaming in through the window, I think it's safe to say everyone's minds are far, far away—sipping cocktails and soaking up rays on a sunny, secluded beach somewhere.
And no sooner had our thoughts turned to sunbathing and surfing, than the perfect summer-time soundtrack landed in the Local Cut inbox.
“On Video Beach” is a recently recorded track by Portland pop-rockers the Woolen Men. If this catchy, jangly melody doesn't make you think of summer-time flings, boys in bikinis and girls on surfboards, then you're not welcome at our beach party. "Everybody knows that life is so much better on the beach!" cheers singer Lawton Browning in this short and sweet '60s surf-rock tune.
We couldn't agree more.
The track will be on the band's upcoming tape (yes, tape
!), The Portland Building, out through Gnar Tapes
later this summer.
