Oh, and some lobbying: Cloudy October needs to play PDX Pop Now!. That'd be good for the fest, good for Portland hip-hop and good for everyone in attendance. It's just a perfect fit.

Can we go ahead and start a thread at the bottom of this post about who you want to see playing PDX Pop this year? And don't forget to go over to the Pop website and actually vote for those groups.

Okay, now for the gargantuan press release.

PDX Pop Now! -- Portland's premier DIY music festival, compilation and music advocacy organization - has announced the track listing for this year's compilation and plans for the CD Release Benefit Show.

PDX Pop Now!'s recent sold-out "Make It Pop!" fundraiser saw performances by Colin Meloy of the Decemberists, The Alialujah Choir, Ah Holly Famly, Musee Mechanique, plus DJ Jeremy Petersen of OPB Music and raised $5,454 for PDX Pop Now!. A video of Colin Meloy at "Make It Pop" can be seen here and Nick Albertson photos from the event can be downloaded here. "Make It Pop!" was brought to you in part by generous sponsorships from OPB Music, Regional Arts and Culture Council, Ace Hotel Portland, Bakery Bar, Captured by Porches Brewing, Fifty Licks Ice Cream, Firehouse Restaurant, Portland Music Company and Saint Cupcake. It is due to the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of all of the performers that PDX Pop Now! continues to grow and thrive.

The night also saw the debut of a video about PDX Pop Now!'s recent outreach program at Parkrose Middle School which can be seen here. PDX Pop Now! believes it's Outreach programming is vital to the fulfillment of it's mission. PDX Pop Now! strives to expand it's outreach programming through partnerships with other music-focused non profits, schools, government leaders and members of the music community. The organization's goal is to eventually make it's school programming available to schools across the region.

PDX Pop Now! is sponsoring a stage at the Willamette Valley Music Fest on May 8. Portland bands Wampire, Sean Flinn and the Royal We, Y La Bamba and the Joggers will be playing the EMU Amphitheater on the University of Oregon campus.

Portland music fans will be pleased to find out that PDX Pop Now! has announced the track listing for the sixth installment of their much heralded compilation. The 2-disc set is stacked with 40 tracks from some of Portland OR's finest musicians, including previously unreleased tracks from Menomena, Talkdemonic, Dharma Bums, Blitzen Trapper, and more. Deelay Ceelay, Tope, The Angry Orts and The Great Mundane have been tapped to perform at this year's CD Release Benefit which will be held June 3rd at Holocene (1001 SE Morrison St.). The cover is $10 and that will include a copy of the 2010 PDX Pop Now! Compilation CD. PDX Pop Now! and Holocene have made special arrangements with the OLCC to allow minors into the benefit, so this show is ALL-AGES!

The 2010 PDX Pop Now! Festival will be held July 30, 31 and August 1 at Rotture 315 SE 3rd Ave Portland, OR 97214.

PDX Pop Now! is brought to you in part by OPB Music, Regional Arts and Culture Council, and vitiaminwater. To receive updates on the festival lineup, and other PDX Pop Now! happenings, sign up for PDX Pop Now! e-news at http://www.pdxpopnow.org.
