Okay, okay, so the audio on this Youtube footage of the Friday Night debut show (and "last show ever," according to frontman Jake Morris) [NOT LAST SHOW! FIRST SHOW! -Ed.]from local Robert Palmer tribute act Heavy Nova is a bit...shitty. But it's well worth watching for a few minutes just to convince yourself that it actually happened. The Friday night show—which coincided with the launch of Radio 23's Cascade Community Radio station, online now—featured not one, not two, but three new supergroups (Ylang Ylang and Sun Ship being the others), and this set was the closer. It was (ahem!) simply irresistible, with members of the Joggers, Talkdemonic, 31Knots and Point Juncture, Wa. holding things down alongside all those chorus-line Palmer Girls.
This show convinced me to finally pick up a copy of Palmer's famously funky Sneaking Sally Through the Alley. I recommend it. And I recommend catching Heavy Nova if they should ever appear again.
Now here's that vid I was warning you about:
