GOP gubernatorial candidate Chris Dudley,
the former Portland Trail Blazers center, has shown strong fundraising skills in his first foray into electoral politics.
On Monday, he picked up checks from National Basketball Association Commissioner David Stern (
$2,500) and former Blazers coach P.J. Carlesimo
($500), now an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs.
After months of studying the issues and working the fundraising phones, Dudley will have a coming-out party of sorts this Friday night at the GOP's Dorchester conference in Seaside. There, he will debate fellow GOP candidates Allen Alley and John Lim.
