After failing to qualify for public campaign financing in her City Council bid,
Mary Volm -- former long-time City of Portland employee, pictured above -- just pulled a $5,000 private
donation.
The donor is Jasun Wurster, the former spokesman for the campaign to recall Mayor Sam Adams. Wurster is also Volm's boyfriend.
Volm, of course, is hoping to unseat
Commissioner Dan Saltzman, who is seeking a fourth term in the May election. The other candidates include Jesse Cornett, the only city candidate this year to
qualify for $150,000 in public campaign financing; mental health advocate Jason Renaud; stonemason Spencer Burton; Portland State University student Rudy Soto; community activist Martha Perez; and family therapist Ed Garren.
Volm's donation brings her war chest to $13,000, including in-kind donations. Saltzman has about $40,000. Here's the lowdown on new donations to the rest of the candidates: Renaud has $4,000. Garren has $125. Burton has $15. Soto has zero. Perez has zero.
