idioflux Did you know that the year's shortest day is quickly upon us? Yes, the days will continue to wane as we approach winter solstice this Sunday, Dec. 21, the date of 2008's darkest period. In light of the timing there doesn't seem to be any better time for a lush instrumental with the title "So Long, Sun, My Friend." In its two-and-a-half minute run time the track blooms with reserved power and mystery from the moment it rises out of the gates, a multitude of instruments helping it build into a lustrous crescendo. The creator of such magic? James Mitchell who operates Idioflux as a solo project in addition to his visual art endeavors under the guise Nas Chompas and membership in many beloved local bands, including handling percussion duties in Nurses.
