Since the launch of
Apple's iPhone in 2007, the single biggest
on dit in constant circulation has been its inevitable debut on Big Red. Rumors until now have repeatedly culminated in a smoking pile of nothing, but as of late the chatter has been almost deafening. While many will be skeptical until they have an actual shipping device in their hand (hopefully it won't matter how it's held), the
Wall Street Journal seems quite confident that Apple is indeed stockpiling a Qualcomm-powered CDMA version of its halo device to ship early next year.
With the way that
Android phones are
eating everyone's lunch in smartphone market share, it only makes sense Apple would finally lay to rest its AT&T exclusivity to branch out to redder waters. We'll have to see how this one shakes out but even my pessimism is starting to crack.
