Much as white folks have earned their place upon the hip-hop stage the past decade, there's still a stigma attached to, shall we say, collegiate practitioners—the idiom craves aggression and too many MCs come across fakey or feckless. Though their act began upon a school radio show, the lyrical stylings of Wombstretcha and Statutory Ray (Dan Storz and Ray McMillin) haven't that problem. As raisons d'etre go, unrepentant misogyny's problematic, of course, but one can't doubt their passions. "Poach Yo Eggs", a track from newly-released fourth album
Right Foot Green, spins a bouncy narrative above Clash sampling of one character's attempts toward…well, Eggs Florentine aren't involved. Macabre humor, but not entirely played for laughs not artless enough to be ignored. Not for all tastes, once again, but, midst untold hobbyists, Wombstretcha has their muse.
