On Sunday I caught Laura Veirs at the Mac Store. With two assumed bandmates and two plush animals for company, she began her set promptly at 5 pm. Aside from both old and new songs from her catalog, there was some political improv in the form of a song about Obama. As much as I love Barack and anything related to him [seriously. -Ed.], I was a little skeptical when she started saying his name to form the beat. From there she continued saying "Obama" in different ways to form layer after layer before exclaiming how handsome he was as a lyric. And you know what? It worked really well! It sounded like a throw-back to some '50s call-and-response girl group ditty.
