Episode 13 of These Are the Days features a chat with Colin Grigson and Sam Yeaman. Grigson has played with some of Portland's best bands over the last few years, all the while maintaining his contagious enthusiasm. Yeaman's group, Ethiopian Children, one of his first bands, recently broke up. Grigson and Yeaman were invited to participate in this podcast because of two rather exciting upcoming events involving three of Grigson's bands.
The first event, which is the third PDX Press Fest, takes place this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday November 17 and 18. Grigson's band Plan R performs Sunday, while a new project Las Putas performs Saturday. The other series of events takes place next weekend when South American performer Boom Boom Kid graces the Northwest with his presence November 23, and November 24 in Portland and November 25 in Salem. Another of Grigson's bands, Defect Defect, performs with Boom Boom Kid at Satyricon November 24, while Plan R plays its first ever out of town show November 25 in Salem. Defect Defect start a South American tour shortly as well, and Grigson leaves in advance of his bandmates roughly two and a half weeks from now.
Grigson selected all the music for the podcast, which features selections by Zero Boys, The Who, Stranglers, The Spits, The Supremes, Avengers, The Wipers, the Adolescents, T-Rex, and more.
