This one's a bit of a monster, sort of a dump of scattered musical ideas that just happens to work. Jesse Johnson's (a.k.a. Gulls) trumpet here is the track's bloodline, a recurring, kinda corny (read: detective movie score) theme that pokes through heavy, echoing beats, while a xylophone twinkles around its edges and a ragged bass growls at its feet. The whole thing bounces along pretty roughly like that for a few minutes 'till the beat drops out, the atmospherics kick in for a last stretch before the 'surprise' ending. Though, Johnson's an improv guy at heart, so really, it shouldn't be.
