Yes, it's that time of year again folks, where music fills every corner of this beautiful city and drunken music fans fill the streets and my voicemail inbox fills with messages that will not be answered until Monday. That's right, it's MusicfestNW and it starts tonight. Rejoice!
Thursday's are always the easiest night of the fest, since only five Portland clubs will be hosting music for you to choose from. But pickng and choosing tonight is still far from easy. How to choose between Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Black Keys? Or between Please Step Out of the Vehicle, Heroes and Villains, the Minders and the Dandy Warhols? It's enough stress to drive you to drink. Tomorrow and Saturday the fest opens up to 17 clubs, which means you're totally screwed if you don't have a plan. But you're doubly screwed if you don't have a wristband. They're $35 bucks and available at all the participating clubs. So go to the record shop and sell all your old Staind CDs or sell blood or steal your mom's TV and hawk it or find a sugar daddy/mama. The shame you feel from such actions would not match the shame at missing out on this weekend. Need more convincing. Check this out:
And, of course, stay tuned to LocalCut.com for updates on day parties with tons a free shit, news about the performers, live reviews of the fest and even Podcasts of the Local Cut Showcase shows going on at Towne Lounge all weekend.
Check out tonight's full schedule here. And drink a lot of water. It's gonna be a long haul.
If you've got a game plan, why don't you tell us all. Maybe you can help the indecisive, or mislead them. Whatever.
