tablainterior1.jpgTabla (and Ten01 and Nutshell and whatever else they'll think of next) co-founders Adam Berger and Michael Rypkema are looking to build on their Laurelhurst neighborhood joint's already large and fiercely loyal customer base with a revamped menu that adds staples like pizza, steak and a burger to the well-loved lineup of fresh pastas, light-on-lettuce salads and oven-roasted meats. It's a move that's sure to make it even tougher to get a table in this sleek and subtly sophisticated restaurant, where fresh ingredients and intense flavor combinations are the rule of the hour. If you can, get a table within view of the kitchen (but not too close to the noise) for dinner and a show. Start with the decadent, creamy duck pâté, then grab a salad and a pasta (try the pappardelle with rabbit or bison) or an entree (the roasted chicken with baked orzo and olives in a fennel cream sauce is sublime), but not both—that would surely do you in. Add a few glasses of wine and relax. You're living the high life. (BW Restaurant Guide)Signature dish: The housemade tajarin, wide-cut fresh noodles tossed in truffle butter. If there's a better pasta dish in town, we've yet to hear of it.Standouts: Fresh pastas, excellent wine list, flawless service.Happy Hour: $5 micros, Daily 5:30-7:00 pmAddress/Hours: 200 NE 28th Ave., 238-3777.
