Here's an update on the travels of local homeless people and housing activists to San Francisco for a
large protest scheduled tomorrow to demand that the Obama administration provide funding for affordable housing.
Demonstrators are delayed by a snowstorm near Mount Shasta but have chained their vans and cars to arrive in San Fran for tonight's downtown rally sponsored by the
Western Regional Advocacy Project.
The Portland protesters set out yesterday morning in four vans and two cars for San Francisco after breakfast at
Sisters of the Road Café. The caravan stopped yesterday in Ashland for a panel discussion on homelessness, featuring speakers and representatives from WRAP, Sisters of the Road, and
Oregon Action. Among the 100-plus listeners were State Rep.
Peter Buckley (D-Ashland) and two Ashland city council members.
