Portland peace activists will march across the
Hawthorne Bridge this Friday afternoon to mark the first U.S. attack 20 years ago on
Iraqi forces.
Organizers of what's being called "The 'Gulf War' 20 Years Later" action want demonstrators to meet Jan. 14 at 4:30 pm near Terry Schrunk Plaza downtown. The march is connecting the 43-day U.S. bombing and ground campaign that started Jan. 16, 1991 to the current U.S. occupation of Iraq, which has gone on for nearly eight years.
