March Across Hawthorne Bridge to Protest War in Iraq

Iraq War
Portland peace activists will march across the Hawthorne Bridge this Friday afternoon to mark the first U.S. attack 20 years ago on Iraqi forces.

Organizers of what's being called "The 'Gulf War' 20 Years Later" action want demonstrators to meet Jan. 14 at 4:30 pm near Terry Schrunk Plaza downtown. The march is connecting the 43-day U.S. bombing and ground campaign that started Jan. 16, 1991 to the current U.S. occupation of Iraq, which has gone on for nearly eight years.

For more information about the event, how to get involved, or the group that's sponsoring the event, The Peace and Justice Works Iraq Affinity Group, call 503-236-3065 or email the group at iraq@pjw.info.
