City Hall: Mayor Announces Location for Joint Terrorism Task Force Meeting

Mayor Sam Adams

Mayor Sam Adams has announced a location for Thursday's town hall-style meeting on the possibility of the city rejoining the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, a proposal that gained new urgency following the Nov. 26 arrest of Mohamed Mohamud for allegedly plotting to detonate a bomb in Pioneer Courthouse Square.

That new location is Portland State University's Smith Ballroom, which suggests city officials are expecting a large turnout for the Jan. 13 meeting beginning at 6:30 pm.

Adams released his draft plan for reconsidering Portland's 2005 withdrawal from the task force back in December. So far on the five-person City Council, only Commissioner Dan Saltzman has said publicly he would like Portland to return to the task force.

The meeting takes place at PSU's Smith Ballroom, 1825 SW Broadway, 3rd Floor, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 13.
