This Week: Lecture and Rally Against Korea Free Trade Agreement

A Korean trade unionist is giving a talk in Portland on Tuesday and activists are planning a rally at the office of U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) Wednesday to oppose a free-trade agreement with South Korea.

Kim Kyung-Ran of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions is set to speak against the agreement President Obama is expected to put before Congress soon. Her talk is scheduled for 6:30 pm Tuesday at the Machinists Union Hall, 3645 SE 32nd Ave.

Then on Wednesday, activists are set to rally at noon outside Wyden's office at 911 NE 11th Ave. Wyden is chairman of the Senate Finance Committee's Subcommittee on International Trade.

If you agree with the activists, you can sign this petition opposing the NAFTA-style trade agreement at the website of the Alliance for Democracy's Portland chapter.
