Got a Beef with TriMet? Become a Bus Rider Advocate ... and Get Paid

TriMet bus

Calling all bus riders: OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon is willing to pay you a $600 annual stipend to be on its advocacy team in 2011.

The community organization is seeking TriMet bus riders who depend on public transit and want to help TriMet improve its system.

OPAL co-director Rev. Joseph Santos-Lyons says his organization hopes to assemble five to 10 bus rider advocates. He expects membership to draw heavily from east Multnomah County, where much of OPAL's work on behalf of riders is focused. But he says applications are welcome from anywhere in the area.

The application went live today and is due Jan. 21. Advocates will get a $600 stipend for the 10-month term.
