Acupuncture, Massages and a Whole Lot More for Homeless People

A heads-up to folks on the streets this holiday: Ncompass, a Portland-based nonprofit, will host its second Annual Christmas Festival for the Homeless under the Morrison Bridge this Sunday Dec. 19 from 11 am to 3 pm.

Besides a giant barbecue, several free services will be featured, including a mobile dental van, acupuncture table, haircuts, manicures/pedicures and massages. Free sleeping bags, tarps, clothing, backpacks and hygiene kits will be available.

Last year, more than 500 homeless people attended the festival, according to Ncompass member Emily Rose-Traylor. And in this year of a continued lousy economy, the non-profit expect at least that many people to show up this Sunday.

Ncompass hosts regular Sunday events in Portland to provide meals, backpacks and other supplies to homeless citizens. Click here to learn more.
