U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder
defended his agency's use of stings to capture wanna-be terrorists in a speech Friday night to 300 U.S. Muslim leaders in California.
The New York Times reported
that Holder made specific reference to a Portland sting
federal agents concluded against Mohamed Osman Mohamud
over the Thanksgiving weekend.
"Mr. Holder was given a standing ovation as he took the stage, and many applauded during his speech. But the room fell silent for several minutes while Mr. Holder defended the sting operation in an Oregon bombing case last month, calling it a 'successful undercover operation' and not a case of entrapment," The Times
reported. "Those who think otherwise, he said, 'simply do not have their facts straight.'”
