Oregon ranks No. 4 among states for the highest number of Peace Corps volunteers per capita, according to lists released today detailing the top cities and states that produce Peace Corps volunteers.

That's a slight increase from last year—with 246 volunteers calling Oregon home, according to the most recent numbers. Vermont, D.C. and Montana led the pack. Washington ranked seventh.

Portland ranked No. 10 for top metropolitan areas for total number of volunteers, with 151 residents currently serving. Roseburg debuted as No. 6 for top metropolitan areas per capita, following Missoula, MT, Burlington, VT and Boulder, CO.

“Oregon has a long history of being a top producer of Peace Corps volunteers, so we're proud to see its strong presence continue with this year's rankings,” Peace Corps regional office manager Janet Allen said in a press release.
