Sick of showing up for casting calls to be an extra on
Leverage, only to be told you aren't burly or menacing enough? Problem solved:
The producer of Leverage is shooting the pilot for a second series, called Brain Trust, and needs "250 athletic types who work out regularly and are comfortable on camera in workout attire."
If
Brain Trust is picked up, it would be the third cable TV series set in Portland, and the second on a Turner network. It would, however, be the first to star
D.B. Sweeney, who you may remember from such roles as that hockey player who becomes a figure skater in
The Cutting Edge. In
Brain Trust, Sweeney is playing a detective who teams up with three "hyper-smart geniuses" to solve crimes, which doesn't really sound all that promising--but as
Leverage proves, people like cable TV shows about various people teaming up to solve crimes. (And this one, we are assured, is set in Portland as well as shot here.)
The casting calls, held by local company Extras Only, are Monday, Dec. 6, at noon and 5 pm at 635 NW 16th Ave., and the pilot is shooting the parts with the athletic extras on Friday-Saturday, Dec. 10-11.
