Something Peter DeFazio and Eric Cantor Can Agree On

Peter DeFazio

House Majority Leader-to-be Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) don't agree on much that comes before Congress.

But there's apparently at least one piece of concord between the two congressmen—neither wants Congress wasting its time honoring sports champions with resolutions, according to this piece in USA Today.

DeFazio regularly votes “present” on such resolutions, saying back in July that "We have problems in this country we must address, not the least of which is creating jobs," he said. "I just don't think we should be wasting our time on hortatory resolutions."

Alas for the University of Oregon football team in DeFazio's district, if it should manage to win the national championship, it may have to do without a “hortatory” congressional congratulation.
