Portland Police Arrest Firefighters' Union President for DUII

Portland Police arrested Portland Firefighters Association president Jim Forquer last night on suspicion of DUII and reckless driving.

The 48-year-old union president and battalion chief with Portland Fire & Rescue was driving a 2008 Jeep Wrangler when he struck a telephone pole near Southeast 158th Avenue and Foster Road, according to a press release from Portland Police.

No other vehicle was involved, police say, and Forquer wasn't injured. He was booked into Multnomah County Jail at 9:53 pm on Jan. 25, then released.

Forquer didn't immediately return a phone call for comment.

(And from the department of odd coincidences, it's the second time in about a month that a prominent local union leader has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.)
