Portland State University's Queer Resource Center
is asking any and all LGBTQ
students, alumni, faculty and staff members if they would be OK adding their names to a list that will be displayed on a poster in the PSU food court next week.
The center's "Outlist" coincides with National Coming Out Day on Monday, Oct. 11, with the idea that a large public list of LGBTQ people will show everybody that it's good to be "out" when it comes to sexuality. Organizers of National Coming Out Day have designated Oct. 11 as a civil awareness day for open discussion about LGTBQ issues. The poster will be displayed in the Viking Food Court and at various Queer Resource Center events throughout October.
According to the QRC's flyer, the text will read:
NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY
We are here. We are your professors, alumni, students, staff, faculty, coworkers and friends. We are the Portland State University lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and ally community.

We acknowledge the importance of speaking out against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. We support the Portland State University lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and ally community.
