State Sen. Chip Shields (D-Portland) will chair a community hearing tonight (Monday, Feb. 21) on issues confronting the U.S. Postal Service, which faces declining revenue and mail volume.

The hearing will feature testimony from customers, Postal Service workers and industry experts. Jamie Partridge, a letter carrier for 27 years, says he expects more than 100 people to attend tonight's hearing, organized by the Portland Area Workers' Rights Board. Partridge said the panel will address such issues as deteriorating customer service and substandard working conditions. The hearing will take place from 6 pm-8 pm at Augustana Lutheran Church (2710 NE 14th Ave).
