White Bird Dance's 2011-2012 Season Features Lar Lubovitch, Chunky Move

You heard it here first: White Bird's 2011-2012 season will be mixing fresh faces with past favorites. It opens Oct. 5 with Pilobolous, a return engagement for the acrobatically minded troupe with just one degree of separation from Portland's own dance scene (BodyBox founder Jamey Hampton is a former member). The return category also includes the winsome Trey McIntyre Project Oct. 13-15; Australia's Chunky Move Oct. 20-22 (their piece Two-Faced Bastard took down the fourth wall in '09), Vancouver B.C.'s Kidd Pivot (who wowed White Bird viewers at Reed two seasons back) March 15-17 and modern legends Lar Lubovitch Dance Company May 2. As for those fresher faces, we can look forward to an international line-up of contemporary dance companies: Israeli artists Vertigo Dance Company Dec. 1-3 and Yasmeen Godder March 29-31, Spanish group Noche Flamenca Jan. 12-14 and Garth Fagan Dance Feb. 22, Sweden's Göteborg Ballet April 12-14 (with dancers from 17 countries, an international line-up in its own right) and French hip-hoppers Compagnie Käfig May 9. Portland performance company tEEth gets its due as well, presenting new work Jan. 26-28. That's as good an excuse as any to post one of their terrifying videos:
