Cut of the Day: "This Week," Jeffrey Jerusalem

Jeffrey Jerusalem is busy. In between playing drums for YACHT--both on tour and in the studio--and making music videos at his mother's house, the Portland disco-pop producer has also been working on a new album. Last month he unveiled the burbling, Caribou-ish "Smiling and Tender," which turns out to be the B-side for "This Week," the first official single off the as-yet-unnamed followup to 2009's Grimace. Unlike "Smiling," which is crouched in a bit of murk and mystery, "This Week" is pure euphoria, with Jerusalem and guest vocalist Rebecca Kaufman of under-hyped New York band Ava Luna singing above a percolating rhythm and a cloud of blissful synthesizers.

The single is available as a seven-inch through Jerusalem's label, High Scores and Records, and as a digital download. No word yet on when Jerusalem will formally issue his new LP, but you can hear his percussion work on YACHT's upcoming Shangri-La, which comes out June 21st. (BTW: After downloading Jerusalem's EP, get their new single here.)

Oh, and here's another bonus, a remix of "This Week" by New York beatmaker Erik Luebs a.k.a. Magical Mistakes:
