If you’ve ever noticed the initials “MNK” displayed next to a high score on pinball machines around town, that’s Scott McKinnon, also known as Mink Staccato, who was a talented regular at Ground Kontrol. He died on March 27th, 2011, but his high score of 43,023,948,120 points on Attack from Mars has yet to be beaten. To pay tribute to Mink, Ground Kontrol is holding a tournament on Friday, April 15th. Players can sign up at 5 pm and begin play at 6 pm. Ground Kontrol suggests a $5-10 donation, 100 percent of which will go to Human Solutions, where McKinnon contributed time and money. The tournament will be held on games which Scott has high scores: Attack From Mars, The Simpsons Pinball Party, and Star Trek: The Next Generation. The winner of the tournament will receive a $25 Ground Kontrol gift certificate.
