From Master Computer Hacker to Child Pornography Suspect

This week, the Washington County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Oak Hills resident Timothy Dale Bach on 20 counts of encouraging sex abuse.

According to a press release (PDF), cops raided Bach's apartment April 12 on Northwest Cornell Road and seized 20 computers and another 20 hard drives that contained thousands of images of child pornography.

Bach, 38, has an interesting history. As chronicled in this 2004 WW story by Zach Dundas, Bach was once a computer hacker known as Phantom Dialer who "single-handedly pulled off the biggest Internet invasion ever."

Now cops are asking the public for any information about photos of children on Bach's Myspace page. According to police, they're concerned the photos may have been taken without parents' permission.

Anyone with information is asked to call 503-682-0452.
