Vendors lined the streets while local bars and restaurants opened their doors for the throngs of eccentrically dressed festival goers.

The highlight of the day was the music. And And And, WW's 2011 best new band, closed down the event around 5 p.m. to a crowd of energized onlookers. The music started on the main stage at 10 a.m. with six bands including Archers and Jared Mees and the Grown Children providing the soundtrack to kickass event.

The St. Johns Bizarre started in 2007 as something to do after the annual St. Johns parade, which has been going on for 49 years. The theme for this year's parade was "reach for the stars," and the theme of this year's bizarre could well have been "reach for the beers." The Fixin' To, Slims, and St. Johns Theatre and Pub doled out drinks to packed houses of pleased patrons.  The event's beer garden also had a welcomed rarity—$3 micros!

The good vibes at St Johns Bizarre were everywhere and provided a chance for a fiercely proud neighborhood to show the rest of Portland what it really means to have bridge envy.
