MusicfestNW Announces 2011 Lineup Version 1.0

Yup, it's that time of year again: WW's own MusicfestNW is coming together all fast and furious-like. While this first look at the still-forming 2011 lineup doesn't allow for schedule-plotting, it does give a glimpse into--- what the latest incarnation of MFNW is all about: Rock music, mostly! There's old-school indie rock (Archers of Loaf, Sebadoh, Butthole Surfers), latter-day buzz acts (Ty Segall, Handsome Furs, The Kills) and local favorites (And And And, Richmond Fontaine, Unknown Mortal Orchestra; pretty much every Best New Band poll winner from the past two years). But I'm also excited about some non-rock acts, especially breakout Seattle hip-hop act Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Dam-Funk, Lifesavas (who've been off the map for awhile) and Twin Sister.

Anyway, you can draw your own conclusions on the lineup front. I will note, because I'm very cheap, that the wristband prices have jumped again, albeit subtly for the basic wristband (up from $65 to $70 for one of the three Pioneer Courthouse squares). More significantly, the all-inclusive wristband is now $115, up from $90 last year. I think organizers would be quick to point out that you're paying for an extra Pioneer Courthouse Square concert with that jump.

Even if you have no interest in this whole shebang, don't forget that there's a free "Lineup Announcement Party" tonight at Star Theater featuring Mad Rad, Weinland, And And And and the Globes. It's a fine (free!) lineup and a good excuse to check out the brand-new venue, the newest club addition to MFNW. Doors open at 7 pm (though if you're anything like me, you're showing up right after game one of the NBA finals) and it's 21+.

Here's the whole damn press release from my bosses at WW. Scroll down a bit for the lineup.
