Portland’s vibrant, supportive community of restaurants, chefs and restaurateurs have come forward to support Aviary Restaurant (www.aviarypdx.com), damaged in an unfortunate July 4th fire, while the restaurant completes renovations. Chef Andy Ricker and Kurt Huffman will make PING Restaurant (www.pingpdx.com) available to chefs Sarah Pliner, Jasper Chen and Kat Whitehead on Sunday and Monday nights with the first dinner on Monday, July 18 where they will prepare special Aviary menus. The menu will be a set five-course prix fix for $48. And beginning Sunday, July 31, the Aviary crew will be open at PING on Sunday and Monday nights. Reservations are recommended – please email info@aviarypdx.com.In addition, Matthew and Elizabeth Busetto, owners of Firehouse Restaurant (www.firehousepdx.com), and Timothy Wastell, the newest member of the chef team have come to the rescue, hosting a fundraiser for Aviary on Monday, July 25 at 6:30pm. The restaurant will offer four courses: antipasti, salad, roasted meats from the wood burning oven and Aviary’s signature beer ice cream for dessert. There will be one seating, family-style inside and out, with wine included, and live music beginning at 8:30pm. The suggested donation is a minimum of $35 per person, but attendees can also make a donation in the amount of their choice to support Aviary’s reopening.
