 Courtney Taylor-Taylor/One Model Nation

This strange and cool little project is the brain trust of Dandy Warhols frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor and artist Jim Rugg. The two have created a graphic novel called One Model Nation that is a fictional story set in 1977 Berlin that, as the press release says, "follows the epic journey of popular art noise band One Model Nation as they become embroiled in the police hunt for the notorious Baader-Meinhof Gang." If that weren't enough, the graphic novel comes with a soundtrack of One Model Nation tracks created by Taylor-Taylor himself. Check out this little preview trailer for the project.

Ethan Rose - Reflection

Local sound artist extraordinaire Ethan Rose is putting together a new project for the PDX Contemporary Art in January 2012, and is seeking Kickstarter funds to get it finished. As he has done in the past, Rose is using found objects to create beautiful sounds. In this case it is the sound of old bells and speakers. As he says on the Kickstarter page for this project: "Each speaker plays back a reversed recording of a bell, and at the exact moment that the recording ends, the actual bell strikes." Judging from the video that he created for the project, it looks and sounds amazing.

Quiz Zilla feat. J. Rome - "Candyman"

This very cinematic clip from this local MC was appropriately released the day before Halloween. Appropriate because it's creepy as all get-out, matching up the dark visions of Quiz Zilla's lyrics with images that squirm across the screen and a story that involves demonic murders, infidelity, and a blonde in short shorts.
