Occupy Portland to Host Fundraiser, Hopes to Recoup Fundraising Losses

Occupy Portland has a fundraiser planned for Tuesday evening, in part to make up for some of the $14,000 in donations that a former finance committee member refunded to donors.

The "Occupy The Bagdad" fundraiser will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Bagdad Theatre on Hawthorne Blvd. with a silent auction, followed by four comedians and a movie, "The People Speak."

Tickets are $10 and proceeds go to the movement. They can be bought at the camp's information tent or online through Cascadia Tickets.

The comedians are:

• Nato Green, "Laughter Against the Machine"

• Dwight Slade, named Best of U.S. Comedy Arts Festival

• Auggie Smith, winner of Seattle's and San Francisco's 2010 International Comedy Competitions

• Arlo Stone, local comedian and Portland Occupier

The movie is a documentary based on Howard Zinn's book, "A People's History of the United States."
