There will be a
candlelight vigil this Friday, Dec. 11, from 6 – 7 pm at the Hawthorne Bridge for people to express their solidarity and concern about climate change. It's part of a “
Weekend of Action” worldwide that will feature numerous such vigils urging global leaders to reach a treaty during the United Nations climate talks now taking place in
Copenhagen.
A follow-up to the recent “
International Day of Climate Action” on Oct. 24, this Friday's event is co-sponsored by
350.org, an international campaign dedicated to uniting the world around solutions to the climate crisis.
If you don't have a candle handy, the organizers recommend bringing LED lights, flashlights, menorahs, lighters, or whatever you can find to show your support.
