City of Portland Decides to Let Public Choose Which Dog Park Gets Spruced Up

Normandale Dog Park isn't on the list, but it makes this dog pretty happy..

The city's Parks & Recreation Bureau wants to fix up one of Portland's dog parks—and it wants you to vote for which one gets the makeover.

Parks spokesman Mark Ross says the Trail Blazers and Banfield Pet Hospital are footing the $10,000 cost of the park improvements.

He says the idea for using a popularity contest—rather than the bureau deciding internally which park needs the most work or gets the most frequent traffic—came from the Blazers.

Ross says the three candidates are all parks that had received some citizen complaints or improvement suggestions in the past: Wallace Park,  NW 25th Avenue and Raleigh Street; Gabriel Park, SW 45th Avenue and Vermont Street; and Chimney Park, 9360 N. Columbia Blvd.
