Future Drinking: March 19-22

 After a two-week drought, today brings lots of new applications to report today:

Berni Pilip (great name!) has applied to open a new limited business, The Coop, in the formerly run-down building next to Swans Garden at North Interstate Avenue and Holman Street. 

As if we didn't have enough bird-themed bars (Swift, the Nest, Blue Bird, Little Bird, etc.), Songbird Cafe is opening in the Mt. Tabor Cleaners building at Southeast 69th Avenue and Belmont Street.

A trio of Snyders (George, Adeena, Scott) is opening a bar or restaurant named Levant in the former Alder Pastry space at 2448 E Burnside St. No further information is available, but the owners' LLC is named "Pickled Pork Chop."

Brian Heck, the man behind vegan juice cart Sip, is opening an "organic cafe" named Canteen in the former Mojo's Coffee Den building at Southeast 28th Avenue and Stark Street. It's a great building, and sure to look it's best once Heck gets through with it.

Katie Poppe and Micah Camden, the duo behind Little Big Burger, have applied for a license for Boxer, their new sushi concept at Southeast 20th Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard.

Mr. Jolly's Coffee, a very odd Pearl District establishment, is becoming Gallo Nero, a 30-seat Italian bistro.

Mississippi Avenue cocktail bar Sidecar 11 has applied to start selling (wine, presumably) off-premises. 

Cedar Hills coffee shop Mo Java Cafe is becoming Creatures of Habit Espresso.

Finally, and most intriguingly, Mellisa Benjamin has applied for a license for The Libertine Deli at 12505 NW Cornell Road. What does one eat at the Libertine? Are all the sandwiches named for mistresses of the Earl of Rochester? Can one order a Sálo special?
